“………..THEY WILL NOT BE JUDGED BY THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN, BUT BY THE CONTENT OF THEIR CHARACTER”
The above quote of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was what was written on the bench we had at our service site.
The MLK day was a great time for me and as usual an opportunity to draw some lessons out of the activities.
Though I learned several lessons from the day’s activities, the quote on our bench kept me thinking about observations I’ve made before today.
I must say that the dream that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had in respect to the quote has almost come to a reality. However, the comment which I picked from my teachers whiles growing up seem applicable here. That is “there is more room for improvement”.
Let us reflect as a people and find out where we still have disparities either in terms of access to food, education, health care, shelter etc and improve those areas as individuals and a corporate body with our God given abilities be it advocacy or general resources.
The day was full of fun and worth remembering.

WHEN STEWARDS BECOME OWNERS

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.

Our world today is far from what we desire it to be. As I sat reflecting on what is happening today in our world and how we treat what is in our possession what comes to my mind is that instead of stewardship we have become masters of what the creator kept us in charge off.

We have “colonized” resources to an extent that we possess the power to determine who gets what and who should not receive anything. After doing all that we then turn around to ask questions as to why some other people lack certain resource or are suffering.

God in His own wisdom know what the inhabitants of a world that He decided to make will need at any point in time. As a result of that foreknowledge He provided what will be enough for all. However, the irony is that a majority of our world are not getting what they should have or need and a few are having more than they need.

The question then is why? Because stewards of what God has provided have become owners of what He has provided. Indeed, the excess you are about to throw away was actually meant for a neighbor who is struggling and if possible crying allowed that he/she is actually interested but you have pretended not to hear or notice the neighbor’s cries and struggles.

Our hearts have even become such hardened that we no longer even think about what is happening to our next door neighbor and all we are concern about is “me” “I” “mine” individualistic life. If God did not have in mind a good atmosphere of fellowship and a united and loving community he would never had talked about multiplication.

I am not going to talk about how Christians who are supposed to know better and behave differently are contributing to this situation of inequality in this write up but watch out for it soon.

I am just trying to give us a reminder that God put us in this world and by the position of where we come from, or are located, or have access to, He has placed us to be stewards of his provision for our world and He expects us to diligently watch over them as well as see to it that those that are for others which we have the privilege to watch over will be shared with them.

YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE BECAUSE THERE IS A REASON

Have you ever asked yourself the question why am I who I am? Have you ever pondered over why you are not a citizen of any other country than your native country or even why you are from a particular location of your country of origin? One more thing you might not have ever considered is why you have met certain people in your life.

Whatever it is I just want to remind whoever has the opportunity to read this short article to rethink critical at the above questions and several other unasked questions about who we are in life and what is expected of us in our walk on this planet.

Certainly there is a reason why you came to this planet through certain particular parents and a location different from other people. Again there is certainly a reason why certain resources are made available to you in life. How conscious are you with regards to the resources around you considering countless number of people who might not be privilege to have such an opportunity. “To who much is given much is required”

This is my first time of blogging on the internet so I do not want to write much but you will certainly have the opportunity to read very interesting and thought provoking articles from me by the grace of God.

Before I sign off I believe that I will do you a lot of good if I give you a clue as to how you can get answers to the questions raised above. Jeremiah 1:5 (you may read the verse 5 to the end of chapter 1) gives us a good guidance by showing us where we actually come from and from where we can have the maps of our lives for our walk on this earth.

Just ask the Lord who fashioned you and has in hands every step you need to take and every relationship you need to make on this earth to fulfill why He made you. I assure you that He will be ever willing to answer and direct you.

You might not be convinced about what I am taking about if you are very conservative in life but I am not forcing you to go along with what I am convicted of but all that I trying to do is to remind you that life will be very frustrating to you if you make any attempt to reject why He made you and be struggling to fulfill some other person or persons reason for being.
